  <dc:title>Werneth Park and Music Room</dc:title>
<dc:description>In 1847 four of Oldham's industrialists, John Platt, Eli Lees, Samuel Radcliffe and Josiah Radcliffe brought 20 acres of Werneth Hall's Land. Each build a mansion on the land and the rest was open space for communal use. The Music Room was originally part of the Platt's property, built by Charles Platt. In 1895 both the Radcliffe families left the park and Dame Sarah purchased their land and had their houses demolished. In 1906 the Platts moved and again the Lees family borough the land and the main house was demolished. The music room and conservatory survived and the Lees were generous in allowing various groups and gatherings in Oldham to take place in the Park and Music Room. In 1935 the whole park including the music rooms were given to Oldham for public use. The loose invitation etc in this section all relate to events held at Werneth Park and Music Room.</dc:description>
