  <dc:title>Guild of Brave Poor Things</dc:title>
<dc:description>The Guild was formed in c.1902 and was set up to befriend those who needed 'extra help in life', usually those with a physical disability either temporary or permanent. In its first two years membership rose to 70. A group of volunteers known as 'visitors' were enrolled and given the task of regularly visiting members of the Guild that were assigned to them. The visitors kept a record of each case and reported where any special equipment etc might aid recovery or improve a members life. The Guild where possible helped its members to become more independent through the provision of equipment and support etc. Also social events were held such as teas and picnics. </dc:description>
