| Description | These papers principally comprise literary works by Jane Fitton, Sam Fitton's first wife. As is indicated in some items, she wrote in Lancashire dialect, both under her own name, that of her husband, and as 'Th' Owd Fossil'. There are both drafts and completed works, with some evidence of amendments by Sam Fitton in item FIT/5/5. Item FIT/5/6 contains work by both adult Fittons, in a school exercise book of Nellie Fitton. Jane Fitton died in 1918. |
