Subject entries show book numbers and page numbers thus: In the Lancashire subject index at BUT/E/2/1, "Amount of Rates assessed B.1.13.B.2.9" means that newspaper cuttings relating to that subject can be found in Book 1, on p.13, (BUT/E/1/1), and in Book 2, on p.9, (BUT/E/1/2).
The indexes are undated, but as they relate to the Scrapbooks, it is reasonable to say that they were most likely compiled contemporaneously. |
