| Description | The field notebooks held in this accumulation are those which Edwin Butterworth used in preparing Baines' fair copies. They have been arranged by alphabetical order of parish. A separate date order listing within each Hundred is at Appendix A.
Where the relevant notebook has not been paginated by the author, the pages have been numbered in pencil during the cataloguing process.
Those loose papers which were not found fixed into the notebooks have been removed from them. They have been annotated with the relevant page number, and placed within an archivally inert polyester envelope, so that they can be easily read without being lost. These are listed with the relevant parish, as "loose papers". |
