DescriptionAdmin History: The school physician or medical inspector was responsible for the welfare of the students while they were resident at the school, he also saw each boy before admission. One of the conditions of admission was that inspector had to be satisfied that the boy in question was in perfect health. The inspector periodically checked the boy's health and undertook treatment as necessary. The first medical inspector for the school was James Bishop Murray, M.D. Surgeon of Church Lane, Oldham.

Scope and Content: This section contains the records of the school's medical inspector, predominantly reports from the first medical inspector, Dr James Murray, to the trustees of the school. They contain information on the boy's health and recommendations to help improve the conditions at the school in relation to the well being of the pupils. S64/15/10 records the health of those boys put forward for election including those that were admitted 1901 to 1935.
