The Lodge is situated on the school site next to the entrance gates. [See plan S64/9/2/39 for plan of school site] During the school's history, it has been used as a dwelling for various members of staff, including gate keepers, cleaners, engineers and teachers. For some of these posts, free accommodation in the Lodge constituted a substantial part of the overall wages. There were several disputes with tenants when asked to leave on the termination of employment, which resulted in solicitors becoming involved.
Scope and Content:
This series is concerned with the tenancy of the Lodge and it's upkeep. The documents are mainly correspondence with various members of staff regarding tenancy of the property and signed tenancy agreements, as well as correspondence with solicitors and architects. Through this correspondence and these tenancy agreements, staff working at the school can be identified. |
