Description | Admin History: As a result of the recommendations of the Haddow Report into the education of boys over the age of eleven, the school gave serious consideration to the development of a senior school to continue the education of the boys post eleven in the Blue Coat's spirit. The trustees began to explore the possibility of building on the Blue Coat's site a school to accommodate 320 senior boys drawn form church schools in neighbouring parishes. The interest this caused resulted in the establishment of the Oldham and District Church Schools' Association. In 1937, a complimentary scheme to build a senior girls schools was also adopted and in October of that year, a 'notice of intention' to build the schools was published. Progress was slow, war intervened and plans for the schools were suspended. The Education Act of 1944 changed once again the landscape for education and these plans were never resurrected.
